How to Take a Screenshot

This article explains how to take a screenshot on different devices.

Windows-based PC

  1. Press the Print Screen key at the top right side of your keyboard.
    • This will save the screenshot to your clipboard. From there, you can paste the screenshot into an email.
  1. Press the Windows + Print Screen keys at the same time.
    • This will save a screenshot to your computer.
    • The screenshot will be saved to a folder named "Screenshots." This folder can be found nested in the "Pictures" folder.

    Chromebook

    1. Press the Control + Show Windows keys at the same time.
      • The Show Windows key can usually be found above the number 6 key. The key looks like two vertical lines to the right of a rectangle.
    2. To take a screenshot of a selected area:
      1. Press the Control + Shift + Show Windows keys at the same time.
      2. Drag the mouse over the area you would like to capture.
    3.  Screenshots are automatically saved to the Downloads folder.

    Mac

    1. Press the Shift + Command + 3 keys at the same time.
      • This will save a screenshot to the desktop.
    2. To take a screenshot of a specific window:
      1. Press the Shift + Command + 3 + Space keys at the same time.
      2.  Then, click on the window you would like to capture. This screenshot will also be saved to the desktop.
    3. To take a screenshot of a custom size:
      1. Press the Shift + Command + 4 keys at the same time.
      2. Drag your mouse over the area you would like to capture.
      3. Release the mouse to save the screenshot to your desktop.
