In this article, we’ll explore the platform view for secondary students as they are completing AI literacy lessons.
Our AI Literacy Courses for secondary grades are located in our Voyage platform.
Skill Struck's Voyage platform was created with middle and high school-aged learners in mind. While the platform has a code editor available for students to use, this won’t be needed in the AI Literacy lessons. Students will primarily be working on the left-hand side of the platform - where the textbook and quiz can be found. There are two AI Literacy courses available in Voyage:
- Grades 6-8: Explorations of AI
- Grades 9-12: Applications of AI
1. To access Voyage from the Teacher Portal, scroll down to the Student Platforms section and click on the Voyage icon.
Accessing Voyage through the Educator Portal allows you to view the content your students will see.
2. A pop-up box will appear, asking if you want to enter Voyage as a teacher or go in as a student in a section. The experience will be almost the same as a student. Except if you enter as a teacher, you will have access to activity answer keys.
Click on either ‘Teacher view’ or (if you have created sections), click on a section.
3. You will be taken to a blue landing page. This is the page students will first land at when they log in. Select the ‘Lessons’ icon.
4. You will be taken to our Grades 6-8: Exploration of AI course.

- You can change courses by clicking on the dropdown menu under ‘Select a course’:
5. When you are in the course you wish to view, click on the unit dropdown menu to access the lessons.

6. Click on the lesson name to view the full lesson, which will open the lesson.
7. You will notice two white panes to the right of the lesson. These are only for coding lessons and not something you need to access in order to complete our AI literacy courses. To close them, click on the arrow columns.
- This should now be your view:
8. Once you have read through the textbook, click on the blue ‘Start activities’ button. This will bring up a link to the lesson quiz and any other activities in the lesson.
- You will see the Activities menu appear. Students will work through these activities to complete the lesson.
You will see a star next to some activities, like Lesson Quiz and Presentation. This means those are required activities and will need to be completed before the student will get a checkmark for the lesson.
In the full version of our platform, you are able to lock down more lesson content, control what students have access to, and when they can move on to the next lesson.
Don’t forget - we offer free access to all of our K-12 AI Literacy lesson plans that go alongside these platform lessons! Check out this article for more information on how to find them.
