Free AI Literacy - What the AI Literacy Lessons look like for elementary students

In this article, we’ll explore the platform view for elementary students when they are completing AI literacy lessons.

Elementary AI Literacy courses are located in the Launch Pad platform.

Launch Pad features a colorful, easy-to-navigate interface that is perfect for younger learners. The following AI Literacy courses are available for you to explore:

  • Grades K-2: Introduction to AI
  • Grades 3-5: Foundations of AI

  1. To access Launch Pad from the Educator Portal, scroll down to the Student Platforms section and click on the Launch Pad icon.

Accessing Launch Pad through the Educator Portal allows you to view the content your students will see.

2. A pop-up box will appear, asking if you want to enter Launch Pad as a teacher, or go in as a student in a section. The experience will be almost the same - except if you enter as a teacher, you will have access to activity answer keys.

Click on either ‘Teacher view’ or (if you have created sections), click on a section.

3. You will be taken to a blue landing page. This is the page students will first see when they log in. Then, select the ‘Lessons’ button with the rocket (Launch Pad) icon.

  • Change Section: Click on this button and it will take you to a blue landing screen where you can choose a section from a list.

6. In a lesson, the lesson activities can be accessed on navigation bar on the left side of the screen.

7. Students work through these activities to complete the lesson. They can move to the next lesson at any time using the arrow in the top left.

You will see a star next to some activities, like the Textbook and Quiz. This means those are required activities and will need to be completed before the student will get a checkmark for the lesson.

In the full version of our platform, you are able to lock down lesson content more and control what students have access to, and when they can move on to the next lesson.

8. Don’t forget - we offer free access to all of our K-12 AI Literacy lesson plans that go alongside these platform lessons. Check out this article for more information on how to find them.
